This striking carved figure of Madonna and Child is an exceptionally rare find. The figure was carved between 1740 and 1750, in Liege, Belgian.  The figure stands at 4ft, this special piece would make a welcome, attractive figure in the home. It is unusual to find a piece of this age and height and in such fantastic condition.

The polychrome figure has fine carvings and is truly beautiful with wonderful opulent colours, including a rich blue. The figure is set upon its original stand, which is unique in itself; the antique sculpture is perfect for those who have religious affiliations with the Catholic Church or an interest in religious antique art.

The Madonna and Child statute is in excellent condition and is only missing a small palm leaf from Madonna’s hand. The sculpture is being sold by Shipwrecked Antiques and costs £3,800. It would look lovely in an entrance way or in a large hallway as a stand-alone piece; a dramatic sculpture it is perfect for someone who is not afraid to incorporate a statement antique into his or her homes interior design.
