Item of The Week - Antique Double Bed c.1880

After a hard day’s work there’s nothing quite like the thought of collapsing in to a lovely big comfy bed, whether it be to fall fast asleep, or to unwind with your favourite book, and of course, sleeping is our body’s chance to recuperate. But in order to get a good night’s sleep, you need a comfortable bed. So, with this in mind, we have chosen this 19th Century antique double bed as our Item of The Week.

Made in 1880, this Victorian bedstead is beautifully crafted, and the frame work is truly something to behold. It boasts the most fabulous hooped design, displays some outstanding and detailed castings, and is made from Iron. It has been finished in grey and gold; super stylish.

The decorative detailing on this bed is simply stunning and whilst being quite elaborate in its appearance, it isn’t overly fussy and would indeed suit several different decors. We could easily envisage it being situated in a large but simplistic modern bedroom decorated in white, with a few brightly coloured scatter cushions placed on it, therefore making the bed a rather prominent feature in the room. On the other hand, we can picture it being placed within a smaller country style bedroom with plain cream or gold bedding, creating a slightly cosier ambiance.  The possibilities are endless, and we’re certain that however you choose to decorate this bed, it will undoubtedly to be a wonderful addition to your home.

Whilst the base, mattress and linen pictured aren’t included in the price, the Dealer selling this gorgeous Antique, is willing to include these for an additional fee.

It is being sold by Seventh Heaven for £1,495.
