Item of The Week - Rare Swedish Antique Biedermeier Sofa

In the early days of furniture making, it’s safe to say that Swedish designers where up there with the elite. Their simplistic styles, soft tones and clean lines were highly regarded and have, through the years become increasingly desirable. Scandinavian furniture is known for being simple, yet oh so stylish.  For this weeks ‘Item of the Week’ we bring you this Rare Swedish Antique Biedermeier Sofa.

This superb sofa dates from the 1800’s and is a classic Scandinavian piece which would blend in effortlessly to a minimalist décor.  Partnered with a few other key pieces of Scandinavian furniture, this sofa could help to create a tranquil and particularly inviting living space, which was very typical of a Scandinavian home.

It is constructed from a stunning honey coloured golden birch and has been beautifully French polished. It has a fully sprung seat and webbed back to ensure maximum comfort and it sits on subtly shaped feet. Its overall shape somewhat resembles a pair of lips with its curved arm rests and shaped back rest.

The fabric is very neutral as is to be expected of this style of furniture, and is on trend with its vertical stripes, but the Dealer selling this sofa has stated that the seat can be reupholstered in a fabric of your choice if this isn’t to your liking.
So, if it’s the simple and stylish Scandinavian look you’re wanting for your home, make this yours!

This sofa is for sale from Swedish Interior Design.
