Item of The Week - Victorian Console Table with Marble Top c.1880

It’s hard not to be impressed by the detailing on this wonderful Painted & Parcel-Gilt Console Table, with its Carrara Marble Top and grey and gold tones complementing the exquisite design, which is why we have chosen it as our ‘Item of The Week’ this week.

It’s not uncommon to want to have that one statement piece of furniture in your home that sets the tone for the rest of the room. This table dates from 1880 and is most certainly a stand out piece. Whether used in an entrance hall way or in a living space or perhaps even a bedroom, this impressive 19th Century table would undoubtedly bring an abundance of character to the space you decide upon.

Traditionally, console tables were, and indeed still are the perfect place to display decorative belongings. When used in an entrance hallway they are the perfect spot to display lamps, sculptures or flowers on. And when used in bedrooms, console tables such as this one could act as the most splendid vanity unit. Adorn it with your favourite bottles of perfume, your jewellery, or a number of other accessories and voila, you have yourself a fabulous focal point for your space.

This late Victorian table is stylish with its modern grey painted appearance but it still oozes Antique splendour with its carved cabriole legs & its elaborate scrolled detailing to the front of the table. The solid Marble top finishes this luxurious table off perfectly.

Despite being 137 years old, it only some minor damage to the feet and shallow chips to the corner edges of the marble, but it is in very good condition overall, So why not grace your home with this wonderful piece?
