Item of The Week - World Cup First Day Cover - signed by Sir Geoff Hurst

Even if you aren’t the most avid Football Supporter, it seems the world has gone football mad with the World Cup being hosted this year, and as it draws to a close, it seems only fitting to have this ‘World Cup First Day Cover' - signed by Sir Geoff Hurst (the only scorer of a hat trick in a World Cup Final) as our 'Item of The Week.'

A first day cover is used to present a postage stamp on its first day of issue. This Vintage framed first day cover is dated 01st June 1966, and as with all celebratory or commemorative stamps, was made prior to the tournament in readiness to celebrate the 1966 World Cup, which saw England beat West Germany 4 - 2 in the final.

Any football fan would be happy to get their hands on this amazing piece of memorabilia and it would make a perfect addition to a football or sports collection, with the autograph of Sir Geoff Hurst taking centre stage on the envelope.

This piece of history is being sold by Badger Collectables, but you will have to contact them to discuss its price.
