He probably studied under Gerard Dou, and as a result his paintings from the 1640s and 1650s are similar to those of the Leiden fijnschilders. - Walther Bernt writes about Brekelenkam: “His numerous depictions of workshops, kitchens and taverns have a distinctly individual style; - Fine quality painting, minor natural hairline, frame having signs of old worm, good clean condition. Highly collectable early art with the label as provenance by Christie’s that will only increase in value, a fine potential investment. - The last image is in black and white and has been specially lightened to allow the hidden detail to be more easily seen underneath the darkened areas. - FRAMED MEASUREMENTS: Height: 15.75 Inches ( 40 cm ) Width : 17 Inches ( 43 cm ) - DELIVERY: UK £50 / Europe £75 / USA & Asia £125 - TELEPHONE : 07765 856171 - Quote Ref: 0864
