1930s Zenith Pocket Watch

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed with the Zenith name and the low serial number tells us that the watch was assembled in the French Zenith factory in Besancon which is near to the Swiss border. This was established in 1923 and worked alongside the Swiss Zenith factory. The French arm had their own serial number system although it is estimated that numbers never reached one million. The records have been destroyed so unfortunately there is no dating system as there is with Zenith’s Swiss watches. The watch measures 48.3mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is chromed nickel and has light surface marking from use and some light wear to the back but overall it is in nice condition for a 1930s piece. The inside of the case back is signed Zenith. The front bezel on the case unscrews and the movement is then removed from the front similar to a Borgel case. The acrylic lens is in lovely condition. The signed dial is in very nice condition. The watch has blued steel hands. The watch comes in a new presentation box. ALL OF OUR PRICES INCLUDE UK AND WORLDWIDE POSTAGE. All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch. We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations. Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red Buy Now button on each listing page. Non-UK buyers are welcome but payment can be made by Paypal only. Please note that we are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
