I got surprisingly excited to purchase these! If the 1970s was the decade of lying on your thick pile carpet listening to cheesy music then these 'Hear Muff' headphones are surely the realisation of that dream. Created in 1973 by a US entrepreneur named Stephen Hanson they incorporate a pair of headphones built inside a shaped foam cushion with a removable cover. The idea was to allow the person to listen to music in bed (or reclining) without that annoying problem of chunky hard headphones pushing directly against your ear. These were probably never going to appeal to the high fidelity group but did come in stereo or quadrophonic, have surprisingly good sound, and were offered with a variety of covers. This stereo pair are in good working condition. There are a few age marks to the original orange flannel cloth cover. Perhaps because they were never high end audio and foam has a short shelf life, Hear Muffs are relatively rare today. If you look on the internet about these things you can view the original advert which is extremely funny!
