Rare 18th Century Silver Soup Ladle with Incuse Hallmark

A superb hallmarked silver soup ladle from the 18th Century. This handsome example is in Old English pattern and has an initial 'O' to the top front. It is of good gauge silver and has a deeply ribbed shell bowl. An appealing extra for the collector is the 'incuse' duty mark, struck only in 1784/5. With so much flatware now melted for scrap, a rare and desirable find. Dimensions below. Hallmarks :- Softening but readable. Incuse duty mark. Maker :- Charles Hougham. Length :- 33 cms. Bowl width :- 9.5 cms. Bowl depth :- 3.5 cms.
