Antique Fitted Rosewood Jewellery Box

A fine example of a beautiful Victorian Rosewood box with brass inlaid escutcheon and a brass cartouche. Most likely to have once been a sewing or vanity box it has now been relined with a beautiful fitted tray with velvet lining. The tray lifts out to reveal an additional lined storage area below. It also has a velvet lined side drawer which springs open when a brass rod is pulled upwards. There is a mirror in the lid and the box comes with its original working key. It is in good condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and overall the piece displays beautifully.
