Description
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver roll top breakfast dish; an addition to our 20th century silverware collection.
This exceptional antique George V sterling silver breakfast dish has an oval domed shaped form.
The cover of this impressive sterling silver dish is plain and unembellished, with an applied moulded border to the rim.
Each end of the revolving cover is fitted with a cast sterling silver scrolling leaf decorated handle, accented with a central rosette design; the handpieces being incorporated into the hinged mechanism is a fine feature.
The base of this impressive antique dish is plain and unembellished, with an applied moulded border to the rim.
The cover revolves to reveal the original hallmarked oval warming tray and drip pan.
The plain warming tray is ornamented with pieced simplified scrolling leaf decoration, comprised of a large segmented central design and a trellis style border.
The surface of the drip pan is plain and unembellished.
This antique silver breakfast dish is supported by four cast silver elongated bracket style legs, each ornamented with organic decoration.
Such breakfast dishes are typically electroplated; solid sterling silver examples with the original liners are rare to the market and are highly desirable.
An antique silver roll top breakfast dish merges functionality with period charm - an ideal gift for weddings, anniversaries, milestone birthdays or for collectors who value fine silverware - serving food in style or acting as a refined centrepiece.
