Description
This is a handsome carved oak chest which dates to the mid 20th century.
It would make a nice little blanket box at the foot of a bed or perhaps a fireside box for kindling.
The chest is heavy and solid but fairly compact, a well made piece which depicts a galleon to the top.
The chest has a thick lift up lid which opens to reveal a clean interior with a wooden stretcher running front to back and a chain to stop the lid falling open too far. The lid is fitted with aged metal strap hinges and the chest is set on block feet.
The wood has a darkly waxed finish which has a nice sheen.
