Victorian Gentleman's large brass Antique pocket watch chain highly impressive patented shield fob. C ~1890's. (Please excuse the reflections in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph). Measures; 3.8cm height (including the top ring/bail), 2.6cm width and weighs a respectable 5.7 grams. The shield shaped mount is beautifully adorned to the front with an elaborate, slightly raised acanthus leaf decoration holding a fancy bow to base, un-engraved ribbon cartouche to top and a large un-engraved shield shaped cartouche to centre. The back is smooth, highly polished and again free from any inscriptions or initials. Stamped clearly to centre with a patent number (the Victorians loved their patents); RD 347294. Robust big brass top ring to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with few tiny indentations, little bit of overall patina and small surface scratches (mainly to back) - all commensurate with age.
