This is a beautifully made and absolutely charming 19th Century Steel Fireplace Footman; or Trivet.
It would have stood on the hearth to take kettles, and pans from the fire and has a lower rack for plates to warm. It is Welsh, early Victorian.
Skilfully made of riveted steel, and crafted with sentiment. It has great shape, with well curved cabriole legs, grip handles, and an adorable fretwork frieze of hearts and diamonds! Crafted as a wedding gift or a token of affection perhaps?
