Antique Victorian marine seascape oil painting (2 of 2).
English School, circa 1890.
Unsigned, artist unknown.
Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame.
Depicts sailing boat in heavy seas, possibly off the Kent coast.
This is one of a pair by the same artist.
Size of frame: 21.25 x 17.25 inches.
Size of canvas: 14 x 10 inches.
Weight: 2.8 kg (allow 5.5 kg volumetric weight once packed).

the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1890
condition
Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches with some damage to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The original canvas has been remounted at some point onto a new canvas backing.
Priced accordingly.
This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
