A grand antique Victorian era sterling silver and cattle horn magnifying glass.
A heavy glass lense encased in a thick stainless steel frame, the handle has been adapted from a walking cane and is made from cattle horn (Bos Taurus) with a finely engraved sterling silver rim and a repousse pommel finial.
It is a larger size with a good sized lense.
Heavy and solid, a well made piece, with good magnification though unsure of the strength.
A lovely antique piece that would be a fine addition to any desktop and would make a wonderful gift.
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham Assay office, maker Julius Kilnkhardt, 1895.
Condition:
Good used condition overall with age commensurate wear and signs of use, some light scratches to the lense / glass, patina to the silver, dent to the pommel finial.
