Description
A beautifully cased Stuart Devlin silver gilt egg with a 'surprise' hare inside, this dates to 1969 and was made to retail from Aspreys of London. It will make a fabulous gift, perhaps for a christening, an Easter present, or a special present for someone who likes hares and rabbits.
- Red velvet lined original box, marked for Aspreys.
- Textured external surface to the egg, with internal 'top' a bright gilt.
- Hare fixed into textured base shaped as a form, or shelter in the earth.
- 'Wobble' motion to the hare, providing animation.
- Designed by Stuart Devlin (1931 - 2018) who was known for his mid-century pieces.
- Hallmarked for London, 1969.
- Weighs 174.8 g.
- Marked 280 on the base.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use and some minor tarnish.
