A lovely proportioned 8-day, rear-winding, vintage striking Bracket Clock, the case and component parts being made and assembled in the UK, the movement being manufactured by FHS (Franz Hermle and Sohns), one of Germany's premier clock engineers. The patinaed Mahogany case, with a Pagoda top and shaped brass carrying handle is of a high UK spec and build. The fixed glazed front (mounted in the case) protects a chrome chapter ring dial with black Roman numerals and mottled brass centre, which is signed by prestigious high-end retailer “St. James of London.” The dial is finished with a pair of blued steel Louis XIV style hands secured with a threaded collet and is surrounded by four brass maiden head spandrels - traditional 20th Century Bracket Clock design. The clocks fabulous German movement is a unique and rarely seen combination of floating balance pin-pallet escapement mechanism, complete with a ‘ting’ striking facility on a bell. (The bell being attached to the dotted brass backplate, which is also stamped with the famous “FHS” trademark and movement serial number). Make no mistake , this is a very scarce, highly collectable and extremely well-crafted timepiece, built with the finest materials, and top engineering craftmanship.

Excellent condition for a 50-year old clock. Serviced in Dec 2018, so sold in fine working order and comes with its original winding key.
