Early 20th Century Industrial Drawing Desk Frame

A fabulous piece of industrial style interior decoration, this cast iron engineer's or architect's planning frame has a working mechanism and attached wooden supports. It was made by J. Halden & Co Ltd who were established in 1878 and started making drawing office equipment in the early 20th century. It will look wonderful in a loft style apartment, perhaps used to display pictures or books, with the sectioned tray available to store small objects. - Maker's name cast into the frame, Halden & Co. Ltd of Manchester & London. - Lever adjusts the tilt of the wooden frame, with several settings including flat. - Handle winds the cogs to adjust the height. - Large attractively worn deep sectioned wooden tray to hold drawing equipment. In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The adjustment mechanisms for tilt and height are in functional order.
