Edward Killingworth Johnson Watercolour - Far Away Thoughts

Edward Killingworth Johnson (RWS 1825-1923) was a landscape and genre painter. Born in Stratford-Le -Bow; self taught and copied at the Langham Life School. Exhibited from 1846 at the Ra(1846,1848 and 1862) Ss, Ows (176 works) and elsewhere, titles at the R.A. including ‘ Afternoon’, ‘A River Party’ and ‘Mending a Pen’ Elected Associate of Rws 1866 and RWS 1876. Lived London then moved to North Essex. His ‘Anxious Mothe’ 1876, was purchased by Birket Foster .His work was very popular in North America and amongst others he exhibited ‘ The Rival Florists’ in New York in 1873, ‘ A Study at Philadelphia’ 1876 and ‘ Intruders’ in New York in 1876. ‘Far Away Thoughts’ signed watercolour dated 1882. An excellent example of the artists work.
