We offer a rare unique opportunity to invest in a fabulous Coronet branded Art Deco striking Mantle Clock. “Coronet” was a registered trading name of the Perivale Clock Manufacturing Company in London, and one of the first brand names Perivale adopted, to produce, market and sell their “De-Luxe” range of mantle, bracket and longcase clocks. (This, in order to compete with the many expenses and luxury French and German clocks that were being imported into the UK at the time). Perivale only used the Coronet trademark for a period of around 20-months (Dec 1935 to summer 1937), meaning that today, Coronet branded clocks are exceedingly rare indeed. The cases of the Coronet branded mantle clock range, were of “superior design” and exceptionally well-handcrafted, being in either Oak and/or Walnut. And each came with the quality engineered and brilliantly reliable Perivale 8-day pendulum movements, stamped on the lacquered mill-finished backplate with the distinguished 31mm high Coronet ‘coat of arms’ trademark, (a coronation crown over a knights shield, with the wording “British Clocks” and “Coronet”). The clock strikes at the half and top of the hour with the number of hours on its authentic 1930’s diagonal line, cast metal block and gong, and is sold with its original 52.5mm polished double-faced brass pendulum bob and its much sought after Coronet signed brass winding key. This clocks richly grained Oak case bears tribute to the level of craftmanship invested in the brand. Delicate strips of honey coloured Walnut veneer having been inlaid into the front of both the clocks boxed case and supporting side half-wings, all synonymous with classic Deco vogue style. The clocks classic period marquetry architecture is completed by two nicely proportioned chrome feet, that protrude from the clocks base. The clock has a squared chrome chapter ring, fixed directly onto the case, with black Arabic numerals and tastefully finished with a pair of original chrome Hollow Taper style hands and pinned collet, all of which are definitive of the Art Deco genre. The dial is embraced and protected by a square convex glazed cover, mounted in a chrome bezel. This then, is a rare and hugely impressive high-quality, ‘high-end’ clock for the connoisseur. Standing bold and confident, it is guaranteed to wow and instigate comment, wherever it be located!
