Hallmarked London, 1811. Of rounded rectangular form with part-fluted decoration, with a flushed and hinged cover, on four ball feet. In excellent overall condition, undamaged, with the piano-hinged lid fitting neatly. Silvermarks are on the underside of the base and are clear and readable. The inside is clean and showing little signs of use and the caddy sits firmly on its ball feet. It has a locking mechanism but unfortunately we don't have the key so cannot test it. There is a small engraved crest (see photo) which may be a dragon but we are not absolutely sure. Silver weight is a considerable 583.6gms. Width is 16cm, depth is 12.5cm and height is 15.6cm. Story and Elliott were important silversmiths in partnership from 1809 at Compton Street, Clerkenwell. Please study the photographs carefully as these form part of the description. Note also that our photos reflect what the camera sees and are not manipulated in any way. We are happy to answer any questions about this item or the services we provide and would like to make your buying experience as easy and as pleasant as possible. Thank you for looking at our stock.
