A lovely example of a mid-nineteenth century French silver 'taste-vin' or wine taster, with punch beaded rim decoration and fluted bowl. Ribbed scroll loop handle and attractive period engraving ‘J.P. DELAYE’. Paris post 1838 950/1000 first standard silver assay mark and makers mark in a lozenge to the handle and struck underneath with the charge, discharge and maker’s marks. Good weight and pleasingly tactile, a delightful object that displays beautifully.
