Description
An exceptional French Louis XVI style freestanding fold over games or occasional table with a delicately inlaid marquetry top featuring a central design of musical instruments surrounded by entwined vine leaf, scrolling leaf and crossbanded border stood on four tapering fluted legs with bronze gilt mounts and moulds. The table is made from various woods including, purple heart, birds eye maple, kingwood, tulip wood, boxwood, sycamore and dyed woods.
The table extends on a telescopic action mechanism which reveals a birds eye maple interior with rosewood dividers to store playing cards. The fold over top is beautifully finished with inlay to the lobed corners and is fitted with a red baize and leather gilt tooled border.
