Description
It is a pleasure to be able to offer this beautiful untouched ebonised bracket clock signed SPENCER & PERKINS LONDON.
Circa 1770-80.
Spencer & Perkins is recorded as working in London(snow hill) from 1765 to 1810 sometimes known as Perkins & Spencer.
The shaped and painted dial is in fabulous condition complimented by fine blacked hands, with the subsidiary date dial at the bottom and a curved cut out for the false pendulum , the backing plate for the false pendulum is delicately engraved and silverd to add that little extra class.
The twin fusee 8 day movement striking hourly on a bell is beautifully engraved on the back plate with foliage as well as the mounting brackets , serviced and in complete working condition
All this is housed in a completely untouched ebonised pagoda topped case circular amplification sound holes to the rear, topped with urn finial and pierced rococo mounts. The caryatids and silked side frets are of outstanding quality. with the whole clock mounted on outset scrolled feet,
This example really is something. i would encourage any interest parties to view the clock, although my pictures aren't of the worst quality it really does look even better in the flesh.
.Like all antiques there is the odd minor mark but the condition with delight the most discerning buyer.
