This fabulous George IV silver snuff box was made by Edward Smith and is dated Birmingham 1828. Of conventional rectangular form, both front and back with an engine-turned background. The hinged cover with a raised foliate border. The back with engine-turned decorations. The sides with reeded decorations. Vacant cartouche to the front. Rich gilt interior. Excellent silver gauge. Hallmarks: ES for Edward Smith. Duty Mark. Birmingham Assay Mark. Date letter "E" for 1828.
