Description
Offered for sale is this extremely pretty Coalport plate, with a floral spray at its centre it is lavishly gilded and decorated in a vibrant shade of pink.
Coalport porcelain manufactory was a market leading pottery throughout the 1800s, it produced a staggering range of porcelain products of all shapes and types.
Seemingly Coalport was named Coalport because of the coal that was transferred from canal boats to river vessels in the Coalbrookdale area. In 1967, Coalport became part of the Wedgwood Group. From 1881 all Coalport porcelain wares include a version of the Coalport Crown mark. From 1891 the Coalport marks also include ‘ England ‘and from 1920 the Coalport standard mark includes 'Made in England' Therefore we can deduce from the back stamp that manufacture of this plate was between 1891 and 1919.
