Large Moorish Polychrome Pietra Dura Marble Bust

A marvellous multi-colour bust of a Moorish gentleman, this is fabulously shaped and detailed. It will look beautiful in a large country house entrance hall, perhaps complementing a marble table or commode top. - Polychrome, with a dusky pink robe and striped white turban. - Beautifully carved, with the fabric folds and overall detail finely executed. - Articulated earring in one ear. - White base. - Flat back. - Very heavy. In good general condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The leaves or feathers on the front of the turban appear to have been repaired, with some unobtrusive glue remains visible and the base looking slightly rough.
