This is a late Georgian set of 'Bristol' blue Indian club style decanters and silver plated decanter stand dating from the beginning of the 19th century, c1830. The decanters are in excellent condition for their age. This means, of course, that they show the age related wear and tear commensurate with some 180 years of use. The decanters are Indian club-shaped and are decorated with gilded legends for Brandy, Rye (sic) and Rum above gilded fruiting vines. They also have gilded rims. The bases are plain, sport polished pontil marks and measure 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter. The decanters are 19 cm (7.6 inches) in height without the stoppers and 23.5 cm (9.4 inches) in height with the stoppers inserted. The stoppers are of lozenge form and appear to be the originals. They are decorated in gilt and are a good fit. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. The gilding is rubbed in places.
