Léonie HUMBERT-VIGNOT (1878-1960) Breton Woman An expressive portrait of a young woman in a Breton bonnet dating to the late 19th century. Painted on a small wooden panel, with the suppliers stamp “Blanchet” verso and presented in its original frame. Leonie studied under Bonnardel at the the School of Fine Arts in Lyon and at the Academie Julian Paris. She was essentially a portrait artist but did dabble with still life and genre scenes. She won a number of awards most significantly from the Paris Salon where she received an “honourable mention in” 1908 and a bronze medal in 1910. Her work can be found in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon. Size:- 17cm x 13cm (20cm x 16cm framed) 6.75 x 5.25 inches (8 x 6.5 inches framed)
