Description
This Edwardian silver card case with leather fitted interior carries a Birmingham hallmark of 1905. The front scene of lovers kissing on horseback some say is reminiscent of Hiawatha and Minnehaha - the lovers portrayed in Henry Longfellow's book length poem 'The Song of Hiawatha' published in 1855. Looking at the mode of dress and background foliage I can see why. With an underside vacant cartouche, it measures 95mm wide and 60mm deep. You will see from the images that it is in good condition with a clean leather interior and is clearly hallmarked. It has a satisfying clasp with hinges in good order. An attractive and unusual card case that will bring out the romantic in most.
