Maori Waka Huia, treasure/feather box. Beautiful and finely crisply carved with the typical Maori decoration. Beautifully inlaid still with the original mother of pearl Abalone shell and whole over with the original old patination, no broken or missing pieces and in good original old used condition. Provenance: The Bradley family a well known industrial metal family from Birmingham started end of the 19th century. This treasure box was directly bought from the Maori community by Hector & Juliette Bradley on there honeymoon in 1922 when they visited Rotorua on the North Island in New Zeeland, (see the images of this trip). length: 48 cm Deep: 9.5 cm High: 17 cm Price: £4500,--
