Painter and creator of boxes and mixed media constructions. After war service he studied at Worthing school of Art and then the Royal College of Art, where he won a travelling Bursary. He married one of his fellow students Colleen Farr and together they established a studio where they produced works for fabrics, tapestries and many other aspects of the world of design in the 50’s and 60’s. Their work has been recognised as an important contribution to 20th C. design and the Museum of Design in Hendon holds Bill and Colleen's works. Later in life he became known through his work on the Oldie magazine produced by his friend Richard Ingrams. He exhibited at the RA and the AIA with his mixed media works. A one man show of his boxes was held at England & Co. In 1991. Bill’s paintings show a deep understanding of form and construction with an underlying humour that makes his work stand out against the blandness of some modern art. RA Exhibits. 1989 1056 Collection with the Joker.
