Super quality pencil drawing of a warrior with flowing hair. This was a finished work and according to James when we met in 1988, exhibited in Glasgow. Painter in oil, acrylic and watercolour. Born 1931 in Gourock, near Glasgow, he studied at Glasgow school of art 1949-53, a notable teacher being Walter Pritchard for mural painting, in which Gorman gained his diploma, also winning a travelling scholarship. His own murals include Trinity College, Glasgow, (1953-4) and Eastwood Senior High School (1966). During his national service he painted a mural which is now in the war office. He was principal teacher of art and design at John Neilson institute, Paisley, and at Port Glasgow High School. His work ranges from delicate landscape watercolours to strong figurative pictures, often with a Celtic influence. He was a member of the Royal Glasgow Institute, where he was been a regular exhibitor. He has had a number of one-man shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh. He lived on the isle of Arran. The drawing is in good condition but has some low level foxing marks that do not detract from the work
