Description
Great quality work based on a travelling seller that Peter met near Salisbury in the mid 1980's. He carried his wares on 2 tripods attached to a yoke. He followed fairs, circuses and festivals in the South West. Many interesting details including to masks of Margaret Thatcher and John Major.
Painter in oil, tempera, watercolour and etching. He was born in London and attended the Hammersmith School of Art 1935-38. During the war he served in Italy and the European campaign. After the war he took advantage of the Government scheme to send soldiers to college and he returned to Hammersmith for another 3 years where he was taught by Herbert Holt and Harold Workman. He taught in Fulham and other areas of London. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of Oil painters in 1977. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, New English Art club and the Roi. He has many paintings in both Public and private collections
