Description
A set of three candle stands or candlesticks from one of the most prominent suppliers of masonic regalia in 19th century Britain, Kennings. Each one has an ivorine label at the base showing “Kenning Manufacturer London”. The set has the expected column capitals in the different Doric, Ionic and Corinthian styles, modelled in brass on top of the varnished oak column shafts and stepped bases. The original brass sconces at the top have been surmounted by aluminium discs and plastic sleeves have been inserted into the top to take the candles, two of these having been cut flush and one standing proud. Still functional, these will make a good addition to a masonic collection, or provide an unusual and sizeable set of candle holders which could be floor standing.
Dating to circa 1880, these are made of oak and brass and originate from England.

condition
condition
In the condition expected from long-term regular use, the original brass sconces at the top have sustained some damage, with a piece of one of them broken and some warping to all. The bases have some dents to the wood and remnants of candle wax, with one of the columns being a little loose on the stepped base, although this does not affect it standing upright and being sturdy enough to hold a candle.
