Stunning Victorian Satinwood & Marquetry Compactum Wardrobe

-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques- A simply stunning late 19th century Victorian wardrobe in satinwood which is of outstanding quality. Beautiful marquetry throughout, in various coloured woods, with rosewood cross banding to each door and drawer. This stands out beautifully against the shimmering patina of the satinwood. This delightful drop-centre compactum wardrobe has an oval bevelled mirrored door which opens to reveal a large hanging space, with the original brass hanging fittings, with centre rail and several hooks to the side and back. Flanked to the right with a smaller hanging space, with original brass rail and hooks. All with the original blue cotton lining. To the left the door opens to reveal a sliding shelf with three mahogany slides below. To the base are four oak lined drawers, two short and two long, which are of fine dove-tail construction. All drawers are very fresh, clean and open extremely easily and smoothly. High quality and ornate originally gilded neoclassical drawer and door fittings, with some of the original gilding still evident, which are in excellent working order with locks. In excellent condition. The blue lining does show some signs of age and use. The wardrobe breaks down into six sections. Very solid sturdy and strong. The dimensions are. Height-216cm.
