This is no ordinary silver napkin ring. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1917 - a time of increased campaigning by the suffragette movement both here and in America, it carries the words "Votes for Women". It was presumably inscribed at the time by a campaigner for a woman's right to vote, and a reminder at every meal of the struggle to have that right. Now it will serve as a constant reminder of the importance of women using their vote and serve as a tribute to those who fought so hard to achieve the right to do so. It measures 45mm deep and 30mm high. Condition is good with minor pitting as can be seen in the images. A rare item and a piece of political and social history.
