This is a 19th Century Victorian antique Betjemanns Patent signed partners inkwell & stand which is a rare example with double opening hinged lid for use on a partner desk allowing use from either side. It is a heavy cut glass base set on original walnut oval stand with slightly Gothic influenced brass mounts. George Betjemann of Dutch origin had workshops in 34 to 42 Pentonville Road London from 1830, he patented the tantalus frame in 1881 and was the grandfather of John Betjeman the Poet.

Condition very good indeed, mentioned for accuracy very small foot rim chip to glass inkwell but not affecting display ability in any way.
