A very fine quality Victorian novelty cast silver tape measure made in the form of a policeman's bullseye lantern, with intaglio initials 'DN' under the domed green glass lens. The twenty plus inch original silk tape measure complete, and with a firmly sprung rewinding mechanism operated by the button on top of the lid. Substantial part marked suspension ring, fully hallmarked to base. Retailer’s name inscribed around rim of base; ‘Cooper 41 St James St’. An amazing collector’s item, heavy and tactile by fine Victorian maker.
