Victorian Staffs. Figure "Princess Louise/marquess of Lorne"
A good late 19th Century English Victorian antique Staffordshire Pottery Royal Portrait Figure of "Princess Louise and the Marquess of Lorne" ~ P A223 ~ H 703. Not often encountered in today's marketplace, this was issued in 1871 to mark the marriage of Queen Victoria's fourth daughter, Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, { 1848 - 1939 }, to John Douglas Sutherland Campbell, Marquess of Lorne, later ninth Duke of Argyll {1845-1914}. The couple standing, the Princess with her right arm across her waist, her left holding his arm, wearing a plumed bonnet, bodice and long skirt. The Marquess with his right arm across his waist, his left to his side holding a pair of gloves, wearing a plumed hat, jacket, kilt and sporran, a sash across his chest.
