A fabulous Victorian silver boxed three-piece Christening set in the rare Palm pattern* by Chawner & Co. The knife with gorgeous applied floral decoration to the blade. The cartouches front and back with no monograms and no erasures. Hallmarked on the spoon, the fork, the knife handle and the knife blade. The silk and velvet lined wooden case covered in tooled Morocco leather and printed: ‘COLLINGWOOD (Jewellers) Ltd To The Royal Family, 46 Conduit Street W’. The set has been in its original box, unused, since new. One of the best Christening sets I’ve ever seen, a corker. *On page 148 of 'Silver Flatware', Ian Pickford writes: " Avery rare mid-nineteenth century pattern produced by Chawner and Co. in whose pattern book it appears. Services are known to exist, but are very rare."
