The noted Silver-making firm of Elkington & Co was founded by brothers George & Henry Elkington in the 1830s. Initially known as G.R. Elkington & Co, they brought a third partner onboard between 1842-1861. During the course of the 19th Century Elkington would become one of the largest producers of silver and silver-plated tableware. The company continued through to 1963 before it was taken over by British Silverware Ltd.
