Description

Set of 6 silver buttons each one hallmarked in Chester in 1918 decorated with blue enamel, made by John Millward Banks. The buttons are in the form of a flower somewhat like a tudor rose decorated in a pale blue enamel to the petals. They are in very good condition and come with their original case, There are 6 loops which go to the rear of the garment, one of which appears to have been replaced.
The box is the original and bears the retailers address for Edwards and Sons, Buchanan Street Glasgow. and the words "To the King".

York Minster Antiques has clarified that the Silver Enamelled Buttons Delicate Blue Flower Motif Chester 1918 (GR3572 / LA104238) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1918.

Condition

In very good antique condition commensurate with age and light usage. The enamel appears to be in excellent order. One of the loops that is normally placed to the rear of the garment to hold the button in place appears to have been replaced. The hallmarks are crisp and clear but very small and almost impossible to photograph. The box is in good condition for its age,
