Description

An unusual antique sterling silver vesta or match case made by Alfred Wigley and hallmarked in Birmingham 1890.

It is in the form of a padlock and there is a loop to attach to a chain. The front is decorated with a horseshoe and the centre section slide upwards and then hinges to gain access. Condition is quite good with just a few minor usage dings and the centre section has the striker.

I have seen one other of these also made by Wigley and dated 1892. It was also made as a padlock but had a different opening mechanism.
