Mid 1800’s inlaid rosewood jewellery box in fine condition. Inlaid Mother of Pearl cartouche, escutcheon and roundels with pewter strips. The combination of the shell and metal strips in rosewood was very popular throughout much of the 1800’s. The style of this box whilst not rare differs from the majority given the borders on the top and the front of the box featuring the grain running diagonally to provide contrast and the raised panel with edge moulding to the lid. All veneer, inlays and moulding are in very fine condition are complete.. The lid closes square and true. Original hinges and lock with a replacement working key supplied. The interior has been neatly restored, all is spotless with no wear or tear and features a velvet panel to the lid interior complemented by the velvet bases to the tray and storage area beneath.
