The watch has a hand-winding movement, grade 727, which is working nicely. The movement was made in relatively low numbers with a total of just 35,800 made in 1934, the only year the movement was produced. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 28,546,852 confirms the date of manufacture as 1934.
The watch measures 20mm wide excluding the winding crown and 31mm high excluding the lugs so although originally designed as a man's watch, with today's fashions it would suit a slim wrist or it could be worn by a lady. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Birmingham 1937 with a case maker's mark for Dennison, a prolific case maker who manufactured cases for various watch makers including Waltham UK. The case has some light surface marking but overall the condition is very nice for such an early piece.
The convex lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish which has darkened with age but is still easy to read. The minute hand is a later replacement.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
