Description

Excellent I.W.C. SCHAFFHAUSEN Silver 0.800 PW Swiss 1910

WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!!

You are bidding on an excellent silver 0.800 pocket watch, made by I.W.C. (International Watch Company) in Switzerland in 1910.

Dial: The clear and easy to read white enamel dial has black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the six. The dial has nice hands and is signed: “International Watch Co, SCHAFFHAUSEN”. The watch has an original glass in good condition.

Movement: The high grade 16 jewel movement with polished steel regulator and bimetallic compensation balance has a club foot anchor lever escapement. The movement is in working order however we cannot guarantee accuracy as it is an antique watch. The movement is numbered: 518999 (31457).

Case: This pocket watch is lying in an 0.800 silver case with a smooth finish. All the hinges are strong and closing tightly. The inner side of the back case is hallmarked for silver with the 0.800 silver stamp and is numbered: 553003. The outer side of the cuvette is engraved and signed: “International Watch Co, Schaffhausen” and the inner side of the cuvette is numbered with the same number as the case, which shows all original. It is also again hallmarked for silver with the 0.800 stamp.

Signed: I.W.C. - Swiss made - Diameter: 50mm – Circa 1910

History IWC: All IWC-movements have a history and most of them also have a mark. Nowadays usually the "Probus Scafusia", in the past many others were used also. People who are familiar with the manufacturer know, that IWC Schaffhausen has records of the reference number, the caliber, the case material, the delivery date and the buyer, ever since 1882. The company name can be found (English italics) on all calibers by Jones (with movement numbers 1 to around 26,000), the Seeland-caliber (circa 26,000-61,000), caliber 28/29 a bascule pilier (100,000 to 120,000) as well as the early calibers 32, 33, 34, 35, 59 and 60 with very low movement numbers like 33, 86 616 or something like 620.
