Description

The watch has a good quality Swiss stem-winding movement with 17 jewels, whiplash regulator and an engine turned finish which would have been an added expense for something that was rarely seen. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1938 with a case maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison of the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific manufacturer who supplied cases to many watch companies. The case is in good condition with engine turned detail to the back, and a vacant cartouche. The inside of the case back has a previous owner’s name engraved into it.

The lens is glass and the main face of it is in good condition. There are a couple of chips to the bevelled edge, with small holes, but they are on the very edge of the lens.

The white enamel dial looks good to the naked eye with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. If viewed through a magnifying loupe, there is a short very faint hairline on the subsidiary seconds dial.

The watch comes with a single silver chain, 31cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is earlier than the watch, hallmarked for 1905, but they sit very nicely together. Also included is a silver swivel with carnelian and bloodstone… the stones are grazed and the bloodstone has a crack.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

All of our prices include worldwide postage.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red Buy Now' button on each listing page.
