Pair of Antique Handpainted Medieval Knights in Armour Bookends, Wooden

A pair of very unusual carved and handpainted wooden medieval knights in armour bookends. The painted detail of the armour has been very well observed and shows heraldic devices on the shields. Since the items have been hand cut there are slight differences between them, but they are a true pair. Each would be facing outward when they are placed to hold books in position. The knight figures are flat backed and painted on one side only. They have heavy weighted bases each with an original green baize covering. Each bookend measures about 10.3 inches (26.4 cm) in height, and about 4.5 inches (10.7 cm) in width. Measured underneath the bases. These bookends are in good antique condition generally for thir age. One of the knights has a crack in the wood on the background between his feet, but all seems sound. Otherwise the items seem in good order. These would make an interesting feature in any study, sitting room or library. Of course, ideal for any enthusiast of the medieval era.
